La petite commission is founded and managed by
Roxanne Arsenault et Pascal Desjardins.
Roxanne Arsenault has been involved in many facets of the cultural milieu in Montreal for over 15 years. She is currently the programming coordinator at Centre CLARK, a position she also held at the artist-run center La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse for several years. She holds a bachelor and an MA in Art History, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Aménagement at the University of Montreal that focuses on representation, exoticism and restaurants in Montreal. This research has been the subject of conferences, interviews and articles. She has been involved with several media bodies, including CISM as cultural director and moreso, as radio host for 12 years, and as a columnist for Radio-Canada. In addition, she remains active in the local music scene via bands Donzelle, Les Temps Liquides and as president of the Pop Montréal Festival’s board of directors.
Pascal Desjardins has completed various studies including visual arts, philosophy and sound recording techniques. For over 18 years, he has worked as a sound mixer in film dubbing, advertisement and within the Montreal music scene. In 1995 he founded the group Les Abdigradationnistes, with whom he presented over 400 shows, including performances at the Biennale d’art performatif in Rouyn-Noranda and at La Tulipe in Montréal. His interest in contemporary art has led to his own private collection of works, a position as curator for the corporate collection of the Apollo Group, and founding La petite commission. He is currently preparing a lecture series that will be presented at the Phi Gallery, with a focus on the subject of corporate art collections and their importance within business culture.
